Pit bulls are no more inherently dangerous to
people than other breeds. People often assume that pit bulls are
human aggressive because they were bred to fight. This is simply not
true! If that were the case then any dog bred to kill another animal
should be classified as human aggressive and our lists of supposed
"dangerous" or "vicious" dog would grow by the hundreds.
Dogs of any breed can show a tendency towards HA
should be seen by a qualified Behaviorist and Vet. Often this is a
result of fear, which can be greatly reduced by taking the time to properly
socialize your puppy to lots of different people, places and things! Human
Aggression should NOT be tolerated in any breed of dog.
For more details on this topic read the
Great Debate ,
written by Anna MacNeil who is currently working on her Thesis " The Difference
between pit bulls and other dogs from animal shelters. A quote I rec'd
from her email was " So far the only major difference is that pit bulls are more
likely to sleep on/in the owners' bed. "
In my opinion
In my experience with Pit Bulls, they are great
family dogs! They bond very quickly and tightly to there humans. I
have had experience with many breeds and never have seen this type of bond.
They want to be with you all the time and nothing more than to please you.
The pit bulls lack of human aggression makes them
bad guard dogs. A common description: a pit bull never met a
stranger.
